Sony S580 Blu ray

I know many satisfied user of this Blu-ray Disc Player, you can read some of Sony S580 review below. Hope it can helps you to make the right buying decision about this Blu-ray.
Review by: LoveReno – I’m certainly no IT Guru but not IT-challenged either. We have had trouble finding a DVD player that was an all-around good product. That said, we returned an Insignia (wouldn’t play certain DVDs) as well as a Magnavox (terrible internet router reception and funky remote control). Both of these products took a substantial amount of time to configure for internet connection. Frustrating! With the Sony, however, set up literally took no more than 5 minutes! (No IP address problems like previously reported by another customer.) By far the easiest DVD player to configure and an expansive list of online options (i.e., Netflix, You Tube, Slacker, Pandora, hulu, PBS, and many, many more!). When down-streaming, this DVD player shows you the rate at which it’s processing — unlike any others that we’ve had. I would highly recommend this product. For the money, it can’t be beat!!

Review by: Bar Harbor Bob – After a horrible fiasco with a LG 570 that would not connect to my home network,(obviously there is something wrong with my router, customer service is horrible); I purchased the Sony S580. The setup right out of the box took less than 2 minutes. The picture quality is amazing. My wife and I thoroughly enjoy the wide selection of streaming sites available. I would highly recommend this player.

Review by: Neal Leslie – I want to first thank N.Porter for putting the bit about using google’s dns servers. For some reason, when using my isp’s (i have comcast) dns I would frequently get a network error. I’ve switched to using the 8.8.8.8 address and that has eliminated most of the network errors. However, I still get them on occasion, usually at the very beginning of a clip, particularly with Hulu. Not sure if the player is trying to stream before it has a secure connection with the site or what. It only happens at the beginning so it’s not a real big deal, but does prevent me from giving the player 5 stars.
Also, I put my wireless router on a different channel. That seemed to help quite a bit too. I live in an apartment and so am bombarded with my neighbor’s wireless signals. There is a pretty cool utility you can download that let’s you scan for wireless signals and you can see which channels your neighbors are using and configure your wireless on a separate channel. (Google inssider 2.0 and you’ll find it).
All in all this blu ray player is a decent product and i would recommend.

Sony S580 Blu rayReview by: Jerome F. Climer – Great looking machine, easy to install with good Blu-ray and DVD output quality, but much harder to use than my LG unit that barely lasted 18 months. The menu system requires numerous clicks, etc., to get where you want to be, has too many useless features and services, many of which have next to no content. The worst aspect is the Netflix streaming portion which is far inferior to LG’s. Sony’s player projects tiny thumbnails and makes getting additional detail more complicated if you wish to scan a number of video options. Unlike LG, there is no way to rate the video after watching or to delete it from your queue via the player. Not a recommendation for the LG alternative, just a suggestion that Sony could radically improve their interface. The iPhone app is a neat toy, but again not as user friendly as most apps and definitely not as useful as the remote control.
